Rituals, Flore's second album, is now remixed by women at the forefront of the electronic music scene. With this release, Flore continues to weave musical links between the U.K. (the global H.Q. of Bass Music), France, and North Africa. Putting her work in the hands of LCY, Deena Abdelwahed, and Azu Tiwaline results in a warm, organic, rich, intense, and ultimately remarkable E.P., inviting the listener to travel in both space and time.
From the Djerid in Tunisia at the gate of the Saharan desert, veteran producer Azu Tiwaline opens the E.P. with the remix of Evidence. The track teleports the listener to a cave where water drips from the ceiling. Burning torches project on the walls silhouettes of ancient humans practicing a healing ritual.
In her remix of "A Thousand Years" Deena Abdelwahed creates a symbiotic relationship between Darbukas, Amen Breaks, and bass sounds coming straight from the golden era of Drum'n'Bass. The melodic thread spanning the entire track reminds the listener of their core values in an age of never-ending hyper adaptation to change.
Flore's very own variation in production of her track creates a space in the E.P. where the listener is drawn into a worrying bass-heavy ambient atmosphere. Observing the world from a satellite in low Earth orbit, they can intercept unintelligible radio communication passing through the satellite.
LCY closes the E.P. with her remix of Congos. Boasting a finish that would make any raver lose their mind over the pounding kick drums and provoking congas. This track is a celebration of the warehouse as the place where post industrial age humans gathered to meet, dance, and ultimately practice their modern rituals.
